SO! Who wants to join me on a witch hunt? :plotting:

Normally I'd just rant about this and be done with this, but I'll let you take a look first before you hear me go off

My art -->…
(poorly) Stolen art -->…

It's bad enough that this guy :iconbroadgm: stole my art and badly reproduced it - but he had the audacity to put in a shop and sell it and claim it as his own!!!

Should part of the blame be on me because I don't put watermarks on it? Or a disclaimer asking NOT to steal my art?  Sure.  But this is a community of artists.  We share ideas, get inspired by them...not rip them off because we don't have the skills to do it ourselves.  Now I know what you're thinking and I should let the dA admins take care of this, but sadly they probably won't do anything mostly because my stolen art isn't on his page so there's not much they could do.

I have contacted Unamee and have asked them to remove the stolen art from their page - and also sadly, that appears to be the best I can do.  And because of this individual (yes it's killing me not to swear and use colourful language to describe him lol), I'm being forced to watermark all future artwork to avoid all this garbage in future postings.

I really should take the high road and not be bitter about it...buuuuut I did this.  I did this for ALEX WINTER AND GOT HIM TO SIGN A COPY FOR ME.  So no - I'm not letting this slide.

So if you felt like it, feel free to toss this Rob Granito wannabe a 'thank you' for ruining your viewing pleasure of all upcoming pics please be my guest. ;)

no one should ever, for any reason, steal another artist's work and claim it as his or her own

or try to make money off it.

This ticks me off. Why someone in there right mind, steal someone elses art? Thank god this dude is off DA. I would have BLASTED ALL MY HATRED ALL OVER HIS ACCOUNT!!!!!

Well first off judging by his youtube videos thegarbearreviews I highly doubt he's in his right mind to begin with   But I'm so much upset that he stole it - bu he modified, claimed it was HIS idea AND tried to make money off it on not 1 but SEVERAL tshirt and print sites...and then tried to *apologize* for it- that's crossing the line.

And thank you for the support :) - but this will be good for a laugh for you.  After my initial journal entry about the whole thing I went to his page and in the comments I said "Hey! I saw that Bill and Ted pic you did on Unamee!! That was awesome!! One thing tho, you probably would have made more money off of it had you not altered the original design you stole from ME.  But what's done is done right?  I just wanted you to enjoy all the wounderful and colourful messages you are about to receive from my friends, family and TRUE fans. :)

There were at least 4 other comments after that - the first couple including mine were hidden and with 12 hours he shut himself down. :giggle:  I'm sure others will find him and not be as...courteous :plotting:

"Please tell us about this art.
It’s a crossover of two of the best time traveling based show and films. It’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, and Doctor Who. Unfortunately they meet on bad circumstances.

What inspired this work? What does the work represent?
I guess time travel inspired I love knowing and trying to understand it. Representing freedom I suppose with time travel as a possibility anything is well possible.

Anything your fans should particularly know to enjoy this art?
Only one thing 69 DUDES (& dudettes) .

Please tell us a little about you.
Graphic designer for about 7 years now. I can get inspired anywhere mostly by 90s’ television & movies. Lover of cartoons, Power Ranger & Doctor Who…..what else is there to say really!

Where do you live and what do you do?
I currently live in New York. I’m mostly a freelance designer and a full timer at a movie theater.

Art- your passion, or living, or both?
Well I was born in the 90s and the majority of my designs are inspired by that era… so I guess a living.

Please tell us about your most favorite shirt.
My favorite was done by a talented artist InkOne. It’s the Blue Ranger with his zord. I have all the other ranger shirts by InkOne, but I was always a Blue Ranger fan. GO BILLY!

Your childhood dream? Favorite character?
My childhood dream was to be in cartoon…. who wouldn’t wanna live in the cartoon universe, specially with my favorite character DarkWing Duck.

What do you do the best? The worst?
I guess video gaming…. you don’t wanna face me in a Halo battle."

It's from the stolen art.

I hate stuff like this, its why I didn't post anything for a long time. People will do anything for money even at the expense of someone else's work. They truly have no shame and its disgusting. I hope you get him good and it sends a message to anyone else who would try to do it.

Its so funny how for anyone else in other professions, if you were to steal something its a crime but if its art, people think 'nah its ok'
Art is what we are, they are stealing a part of us when they do that. I don't just draw something and think, 'meh whatever' I am truly proud of what I do and to think someone else is not only trying to claim my joy as their own but to sell it? Its sickening...

Burn the art thieves.

Well said and thank you

It's sad that all it takes is one person to ruin it for everyone and there is no excuse for it.  They figure *Well it can't hurt, they'll never find out*  20 plus years ago? Sure.  But this the 21st century - you can't fart on the internet without SOMEONE finding out about eventually.  And it DOES hurt - that's money I've technically earned that I'll never see - it's food off mine and my family's plate - I risk losing credibility and I have to now protect myself by putting watermarks on everything I do which more than likely is going to cost me viewers and possible future commissions.

I've done what I needed to do: His name is out there and is labeled an art thief.  So hopefully others that he's stolen from will step up and call him out as well.

But I'm not going to let this stop me from doing what I love to do :)

What cracks me up the most, is that he claims to be a graphic designer of 7 plus years...
... that just makes my brain hurt.  I don't think he knows what that means

I know exactly what you mean... the internet is such a wide, open place there is no telling where your own stuff might end up and all we, as the artist, want to do is share it with everyone.

When I see someone's work, my first thought isn't 'hmmm can I use this...' but to enjoy and appreciate it. That is not only someone going through a lot of work and time to create it but to be brave enough to put it out there in the world.

I myself always try to express what it is in something I like because I have an idea what its like to be staring at a screen thinking of what I should do and how I want it done. Then to work all that time for someone else to go "I could put this on a T-shirt, mug, mousepad, etc ' and make money and/or receive praise that clearly YOU earned. Its repulsive.

You created it, whether it was original or fanart. Your own art style is your own signature. If he truly wanted to do something like look at something of yours as reference he would have at least tried to do it in HIS style (if he can even do anything art related) and THEN credit you for the reference/inspiration.

I'm glad to hear that things are being taken care of and thanks for listening to my little rant. It just makes me sick when people do that. Whenever I see something like that I try my best to at least ask someone to credit the original person. I have found others doing it and brought it to the owners attention in the past. So i hope nothing like this happens again to you, or to anyone else. We were brought onto this site to share our creations and passions of art, not to be violated and insulted.

Thanks for your time
