Hoookayfine. Here. We. Go.
When I first heard about this way back when with they decided to make (basically) a rule 63 ghostbusters, I was rather confused at first because there was little to no info about it. Was it a reboot? A remake? A sick joke?  Turns out, I'm still not sure what it actually is. I've made an angry post about all this before about how my biggest problem with the whole new franchise, was that it wasn't canon. I'm all for a new team, whether it be male, female, airmail, whatever. That's not the issue; sure it's a lot of nods to the original movies but that's all it is, a nod. and I was very upset that the original crew weren't even going to be mentioned in it. Save for a couple of cameos, that weren't going to be their characters.

Fast forward to March 3rd...

After seeing the trailer, I was pleasantly surprised that it actually looks quite fun.  I was actually pissed off that I don't hate it lol.  Do I think it's going to be as good as the classics? No, not by a long shot. Do I think it's going to be any good? Perhaps.  I think the slapstick stuff might get a little on the silly side for my liking, but I can let it slide for the sake of what it actually looks like: Fun.  it's a goofy movie with what looks like to be really good special effects and hopefully a killer updated version of the theme. What I think they are trying to do is make it more like the animated series because of some similarities people have been noticing....Holtzmann (Kate_McKinnon...totally hottie btw) being the front runner: Got the poofy curl of Egon, the scene where she's pretending to be a fake mannequin head, even the part where she licks one of her guns, all from the cartoon.  But that just might all be one big coincidence ;)

Bottom line, does this movie even need to exist? No, not really.  But it's here. There's nothing we can do about it.  It's Ghostbusters on some level. Save for the video game, it's the closest we're going to get for a 3rd movie. And really I'd take this over having a 3rd one without Harold Ramis; it just wouldn't be the same....not after all this time.  But I will accept this into my universe of Ghostbusting awesomeness.

It certainly beats Hollywood trying to make a Ghostbusters film based off the Filmation cartoon ;)

And for all the haters blowing up the internet on how badly this is going to suck?  Just remember that the live action Jem and the Holograms movie only last 2 weeks in the theatre before they pulled it...it was THAT bad.  PIXELS beat it out.

"There's nothing we can do about it."
That's not entirely true. We can do one very powerful thing: Not watch it.
If it bombs hard enough, maybe the next producer will think twice about attempting something like this.
